Here we offer our advice on the best ways to store the logs and firewood we supply at Wenford Forestry. Follow these simple steps to get the best results of a long burn time and higher heat output.
Store your logs off the ground, for example on pallets, to allow air to fully circulate the wood. A purpose built log store or open fronted barn/shed is ideal for storing your firewood.
Our high quality partially seasoned hardwood, in our opinion, only requires further drying once stored as stated above, for a further few months. With this you will achieve a long lasting burn with high heat output from the firewood.
For those of you that like to season our ‘green’ wood yourself, store and dry the wood as outlined above. When these steps are completed, you will be left with excellent firewood at a great price. You should not begin burning your wood until it has a moisture content of around 20%.
For optimum burning and ever lower moisture content, bring cut and split logs indoors a couple of days before use to help with the drying. To arrange a delivery please
